Power Window Problems

Hi,

I am from Australia and have a 1990 (J30???) Maxima Ti. The drivers side mirror will only travel up but not down.... Is the wiring between the US and Aus modles the same? And if so does anyone know how the windoes work (I.e 2 wires to motor, does switch give one 12V and the motor is grounded or does the polarity just switch. The motor works (up and down) when i put 9V to it so i guess the wires have shorted to the body.

Any other ideas? Or relavant posts???? (Search feature disabled)

Thanks

the polarity is reversed when moving the window up or down.
take a look at the window regulator to see if there's anything wrong with the wiring to it.
also you can try finding another switch from a wrecking yard. plug that in and see if it helps. that'll be easier than getting into the harnesses.
but if the wiring for 3rd gens is the same across the world, you will need to find a window switch from an 89-91 maxima.

Ok, this is a really stupid question, reflecting my cluelessness, but where is the window regulator? Inside the door? Do you need to take apart the whole door to get to it? I'm having power window problems too, my window came down once, made grinding noises coming back up(never coming up all the way) and now won't stay up, I have to put it up manually.

Hi,

you don't have to remove the whole door to get to the window regulator,

just remove the cover on the inside to get to the regulator of the windows,

ah...the power windows

I just had the same problem with mine, they all seemed to
go at once. The motors were fine but needed new regulators.
FInd a junk yard or I ordered mine online for 30 dollars (in the US)
