wire in trunk

i just replaced my trunk lid the other day, and in order to get the new one out (and the old one) i had to cut the wire that leads to the lock. ( i figured i would splice it later.) What i was thinking was that it would control the trunk switch by the drivers seat. But without thinking, i pushed the switch and it opened. I was shocked. So my question is what does the wire control.

alarm wire or 3rd brake light if its an SE trunk. Is you security light blinking all the time?

and you can get the trunk off without cutting the wires. You just have to undo the connectors under the felt trim.

My 94 gxe has a wire harness running up the driver's side hinge to the lights on the back panel of the trunk lid. The plugs are at the light bulbs ends, there is no plug by the trunk hinge.

are they thin wires???? if it is, it could be the security sensor for the trunk key.

its the sensor that tells to the alarm to disengage after its opened with the key, set your alarm and open the trunk with the key and it'll go off, my little sensor thing is broken

Trunk lock broke

When I bought my 97maxima someone broke into it and stole the radial and broke out the trunk lock. So I got this car pretty cheap. The alarm used to work fine till I gave someone a ride and he put his bike in the trunk and tied the trunk shut by the wires coming out of the trunk lock itself. So that two wires are now hanging there losely. And my car alarm doesn't work at all. My question is where do I put the wires back so my alarm will work.

You have a 4th gen, head over to that section and you'll have a better chance of getting an answer. And tell the guy with the bike that he's an idiot.
