intercooler

So I'm going to turbo my max and I've always wondered, what would be better if I was running only like 7psi. A front mount intercooler. Or none at all. I know its always best to try to keep everything as cool as I can,but I was also thinking, wouldn't there be a better throttle response if I didn't use one, due to the fact that its a shorter path for the air to travel...?

- what's your REALISTIC power level you're looking to achieve?
- what turbo are you using?
- what's your turbo map and what CFM do you intend on flowing? specs of hot side and cold side A/R?
- what size injectors are you looking to use and run?
- stock FPR?
- what motor are you looking to use?
- stock cam? aftermarket cam?
- automatic or manual trans?
- modifying the intake manifold or leaving it stock?

I'm using stock everything, I'm gonna find a t25 or a t28 from the junkyard off a saab or volvo. I won't have it turned up past what they are originally for simple fact that I don't feel like going all out on a build. Eventually I'll pull the motor and do a complete rebuild that way I can safely rum high boost. This is just something to give me a nice little kick for now.

T3 minimal. You can get a new core and use the old housings from the z31. Save some money that way and have essentially a new unit. If you are running less than 10 psi, then no intercooler is needed.

those are legit questions. if you don't have a game plan or a goal then it's going to be a hot mess. knowing what you want to get and setting a realistic budget is the key to all this.

Where I was at one time. Why I try be honest straight up with minimal criticism as possible.
A lot of the seniors around here gave me same treatment years ago. Never know one might come through like I did.

Ya I did. Pushed the stock motor on pump gas. How many other maximas have ran 25psi stock internal motor? Ran it for long time. Would still be going if had it on e85 or meth injection.

You had a VG block or VE...i'd guess VG would have a better chance holding up that long with 25psi of boost but the VE was no slouch?
