Antenna Questiono

Hey Guys,

I need to replace my mast for my power antenna so i got the mast but the problem i am having is getting the retainting nut off.....I know 4dsc.com says to put a pair of needle nose player in the noches and turn....well i tried that but it wouldn't trun the needle noses would just pop out of the noches. I was wonder if any of you had and other ways of getting that unscrewed or any other pointers...

thanks for the help guys

use some channel locks or vice grips or something on the outside of the nut
be careful to only grab the chrome nut part and not the black plastic below it and try not to scratch the chrome

okay okay......thanks craig for that imput and i think i'm having more problems then should be expecting...so that 10 minute Job isn't happening anymore.....so on to the next problem,

I get the nut off and when i power on and pull on the mast to make it come all the way out.....it catches and won't let me pull the mast out....i just keeps stoping.

at first i thougth it would come out right when i got that nut off but i'm wrong....soo does anyone know why this is happening? and why the heck it won't just pull out............like 4dsc.said

okay i have removed the retaining nut and the black gormet cover. I am not trying to extract the boken mast....it's just the bottom two sections of the mast. The top sections and the white plastic belt thing came out when it broke...so now i'm trying to remove the left over maST to replace it...and it will not come out....i think i'm missing a step....but I am going step by step on the www.4dsc.com site write up and it's not coming out.....so i'm puzzled on how to extract the rest of the mast so i can replace it with the new mast

so are you saying your mast broke into two pieces - you have the top two sections of the mast sitting on the ground and the bottom two sections are still stuck in the car? I've never seen that happen

is the lower part of the past sticking out of the car or is it still below the sheet metal? If it's below the sheet metal (or if you can get it back below that level), maybe you can pull the motor assembly out and do some surgery on it to get the other mast parts out.

Yes you are correct the top part of the mast is broken off and on the ground ( i back out of my garage before the door was comepletly up. so it snapped the top part of it off. and you are correct about the other part. The bottom two sections of the mast are left in the car. I pulle and they won't come out....all the nuts and covers are removed...still can't get the bottom two out. I figured it was the lil sleve at the bottom but then why can everyone else get their out witht hat on it.
