craigs taillight re-wire

well last night i decided ill go out and tackle the badass lookin taillight re-wire as seen in the ads for the maxima, so i go to craigs website, follow all the directions, and then turn on my lgihts.....they look pretty kick ***

then i start to check all my signals and such, looks even better with the taillight blinking rather than the nasty yellow signal. anyways i noticed that my reverse light was on when the headlights were on also, that cant be right. so i get a friend to hit the brakes, now both the old blinker and reverse lights come on, and i put it in reverse and the taillight section lights up, so as a quick fix i just pulled the bulbs in the reverse light spot out....has anyone else done this and had success in completing it or can i get some advice from the man himself....any help is appreciated, thanks

I'm pretty sure that mod is illegal to use on public roads, although it does look cool.

Good job either way.

i did this a while ago, but hated the amber brake light, i suppose i could have taken out the bulb and just only had 1 brake light, never thought of that

Well you could put red bulbs where the clear section is.

At first I followed Craig’s instructions and I drove around with them like that for a while but with a red led bulb where the tail light is. I did not like it because at night when I would take pictures the part that is now the turn signal does not light up enough. So I put everything back but I made my own harness for the turn signals so I could use a 1157 bulb. So with that in place I have the dimmer filament on all the time when I turn on my lights or just my parking lights, and when I turn on my turn signal it just gets brighter. Also I put a red gel in the housing area so the light shines red instead of amber. It works well and it looks cool, and best of all its legal. You can see in the first picture the rear lights do not look to good and in the second picture you can see what my lights look like now.
