heated sideview mirrors and lighting

I'm curious to see if my sideview mirrors are operating correctly...92 max se manual...

On the dash, the left set of controls (electronic adjustment and heating of sideview mirrors and light intensity) are not lit up when the headlights are on. I only say this because the controls to the right of the steering column are lit up when the headlights are turned on.

Regardless of the light on the dash, I still have the ability to adjust my sideview mirrors. But, I do not see the light for the heated feature come on when I press the button in. Is there a way to check if this heated feature is working?

Assuming that the left side controls are supposed to be lit as well, my guess is that I have either a fuse out or a bulb out.

Thanks for any information ahead of time...

On my first SE, the heated mirror light was busted but the mirrors still heated. How did I know? I pressed the button, waited 2 minutes, then touched the mirror glass I don't think that button cluster is lit up at night, not 100% sure of it though.

Good suggestion... I've been trying that since I got the car...no heat to the touch so far...

I was hoping someone would tell me that the abscence of the dash lighting would affect the heating system...

Can anyone confirm...???

the mirror controls do not light up, but there is a bulb that should come on in the upper part of the switch when the heated mirror part is on. A burnt out bulb wouldn't affect the system though.

my heated mirrors work, but the light doesn't light up.

I used them for the first time the other day when we had a bunch of dew on everything, because I have my engine in the garage and the car is outside

That light must burn out easily, because the one on my first VE burned out at about 100k or so and I never bothered to fix it, since it still worked and I rarely used it, anyway.

My question is

How do you repair a mirror that doesn't heat up? I just noticed that my passenger mirrors do not heat up. Is the it the mirror itself or something else?

Thanks

you would have to check all of the wires, connections and fuses.

I can't see both mirror heating elements being burned out. I have never taken one apart, but I would think that a wire came loose or a fuse went out somewhere along the line. If you have power through the circuits, then maybe look into buying another set of mirrors.

Personally, I don't see why it would be worth all the bother. You can wipe both mirrors off with a towel in about 30 seconds.
