Clutch Problems
Clutch Problems
I have a 93' SE and just recently my clutch pedal has been acting wierd. I noticed a little fade two days ago, yesterday alot of fade and no rebound...and today the pedal goes to the floor and stays there. I had a Bronco with a hydralic clutch awhile back and the slave cylinder broke, producing a similar effect...leading me to believe the same sort of scenario is happening here. Has anybody any experience with this sort of thing? And for that matter is there any way to test a slave cylinder...to make sure that is the problem and not the master cylinder or whatnot.

oh yeah its a common problem
first check to see if your low on fluid if you are which im sure you are and its either leaking out the slave or master cylinder
theres a rubber boot on the front of the slave cylinder if you remove it and theres fliud in it thats your problem

You could also check the cooler lines. There's a bleeder valve there. All you have to do is follow the slave cylinder line up to the master cylinder. Its the junk in the middle. I agree with subs though, its most likely a MC or SC sorta problem.
Good luck

Cool. I guess that answers my post a while ago asking what are the symptoms of a bad slave cylinder--that I never got an answer to (nonetheless, thanks to the person who did answer the second part of my question). Being that a new SC only costs around $30.00 or so, I will be replacing mine in the very near future.
