alternator

Where is the alternator in our car? Does anybody know how many ampheres it can handle. I'm going to be running two JL 500/1 amps and I'm considering getting a new alternator instead of a cap since I heard they suck. Any reccomendations on what kind of alternator or can I just get one from pep boys? Can anybody tell me how to replace it? Thanks sorry about the newbie questions.

I agree with craig. But to help you out, the alternator is on the passenger side, toward the front of the engine. Take off the bottom shrouds, and you can't miss it. As for exactly what it puts out I can't say for sure. Check with a few other companies before Pep Boys. I know Denso came out with a brushless high-output alternator.

i just did the same. i put a clarion head unit new speakers and bazooka and my alternator went so that should be the problem. make sure you also change battery cables and alternator belt for insurance that it might be any of those either. But im working fine since i did all that.
