Listen to this crap...I went to pick up 98 SE rims for my car today (92 gxe) and right when I got off the freeway the freaking thing starts making the weirdest noise. It was like a grinding noise and the guy I was getting the wheels off of used to have a 3rd gen and he said that it was something wrong with the tranny. After I took it off of drive and put it in gear it sounded alright for a second or two until I pushed the gas and then it came back but not as bad as it was in drive. I dont know what this is but I hope that I dont need a new freaking transmission. Someone please enlighten me on what this might be. Thanks.

Hey man, I had something like that happen, turned out to be damaged splash guards under the engine and around the driveshaft arae rubbibg slightly at higher speeds as the wind caught them..... If however it wasa directly connected to engine rpm, then u may have serious prob. good Luck...

i had that before too

The splash guard incident caught me before also. It happened when I took the car up to 120 on the freeway and when I got off it made this weird *** noise. I was like what the hell and got all scared but it turned out to be the splash guards. Thanks for your help though. I still dont know what it is...the mechanic is looking at it today.

barf to new motor

I dont exactly know the sound you are describing in realtion to the tranny cuz my tranny never made any bizarre sounds when it was going out. Or I could have been blasting Madonna too loud, but none the less, what about a loose pulley? Thats kinda how my loose pulley sounds, I need a new pulley and crank, did u open the hood and see exactly where the sound was coming from?
