What do mods do to MPG?

I really have two questions. If I put CAI, y-pipe, performance exhaust etc. on a VE I know I get more HP but what about mileage? Also what mods will improve top speed besides some kind of 6 speed?

the engine will run more efficiently, and your MPG will go up. my car got around 26mpg when stock, and now I can get a little over 30mpg on the highway if I keep my foot out of it.

top speed? unless you're on the track, you should never have to worry about it. you ever get caught going those speeds and you're going straight to jail, no questions asked.

I agree with Matt. I have a y-pipe and pop charger and I got about 29 mpg on I-5, then I-84 going 75 or more the whole time.

I don't think I ever got more than 26 mpg or so with the stock set up.

I agree with Mat too. The more efficent the motor runs and with you not gettting on it
will yeild better gas milage. But i did get like 28 to 30 mpg on the way to tenn. When I first got my car stock no weight. Following my dad. (He Dont drive fast 70mph tops for pops) Yeah it was like 29 mpg I only could put 16 gallons in because if I would fill it up all the way it would leak out all over the place.that was with an auto. Now even with a stick I only see like 20 to 22mpg But I weight like 3560 also.

3560?! Dayum! that's a lotta ****z in your trunk! (those chrome rims prolly don't help either).

mine weighs 3420 with me in it, and I've got 100lb of dynamat in the car, 5 amps, a pair of 12s bolted in, and my street wheels weigh 26lb each.

in track trim, I lose about 130lb from pulling the amp rack and changing to my track wheels (14lb each)...

the big thing is to keep your foot out of it and use the cruise control. on the race track, I get 7-8mpg. if I set the cruise on 80 and don't floor it to get around people that are pissing me off, then I can get upwards of 30 on the drive home.

even with my turbo setup i've still managed 28.5 on the highway even boosting quite a bit to pass and such. bolt ons help out but when you start getting into the heavy mods like a turbo you then get to buy all of the nifty fuel tuning stuff which helps out even more.

I think I need new wires and an o2. My o2 has like 165,000 on it.

Thanks for the responses. I want a little more oomph when I want it, but not at the expense of mileage going to hell. You know there are just times on the open highway that someone is being a jerk and he just needs to be left behind with no hope of catching up.
