20 questions.

I just had a few misc. questions regarding my 94 GXE. I noticed that the car has leather, sunroof, Bose CD/Cassette, etc, but no cup holders anywhere. What's that all about? Am I over looking something? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also, I have seen a few sets of 5th gen Maxima/I35 wheels for sale. Will they fit my 3rd gen? Thanks in advance for your help. L8r.

I'm guessing you have the double din sized bose headunit in there (tape and cd player). On 92-94 models with the single sized headunit, there is a popout cupholder that mounts just below the radio. It's still not very useful though and anything bigger than a 12oz can seems to fall out around turns. Many people use the ford taurus (also used by Saab) cupholder/coin tray in this spot and like it better. But if you have the double din unit, you wont have a spot for it anyway. Pepboys has a decent selection of cupholders that mount on the floor, hang on your window sill, mount to the vents or other things. Also, open the glove box and look at the circles on the door. That's supposed to be a cupholder too but wont help much if the car is moving at all.

Right on. I saw the holes in the glove box, but I knew that wouldn't work. I plan to upgrade the head unit in the near future anyway. Can I use the Taurus or Saab cup holders with a single din HU and mounting kit? I couldn't believe that there was not a single holder. I thought I was going crazy, well I still am but not as fast. I see that you have the 4th gen wheels, does the 5th gen have the same bolt pattern? Thanks for your help, by the way.

I also had another quick question regarding lowering springs. I've seen 1" kits out there. Do I need to replace the struts when going with the lowered springs?

89 and up wheels have the same bolt patter. so go nutts

it is always recommended to get new struts with drop springs.

I've used those on one of my past trucks and they worked fine as far as lifting and lowering when carrying heavy loads. It is not by any means a performance bag setup. Plus they where designed for a leaf spring setup, not a strut setup. For a Maxima, they have strut bag assemblies from companies like Air Ride Technologies, etc. I don't have any experience with those though. Check this out...... http://www.ridetech.com/productinfo/airstrut.asp

Kinda pricey though. L8r.

it isn't necessary, but you'll be replacing them within 6 months anyways so do them at the same time.
There are a few different drops available check here : www.internetautomart.com for some options.

Do you mean the Eibach kit that lowers 1.2", or have you seen some crazy new spring out there that actually quotes a drop of 1"?

Eibach. Or a kit from Suspension Tech, Inatrax, etc. I thought I remember seeing a 1" kit from Inatrax, I believe that's what it was called, on Nopi.com a few weeks ago that was a little over an inch for around $150.

Okay. Eibach is still the least drop of all the springs currently available. ST is something like 1.6" drop, and I think Intrax is a similar height. Sprints are the lowest at 1.8" or 2" I believe.

as far as cup holders go, I know I dont have any either, so I did the ghetto thang and used a cupholder that hangs off of the glove box. You shut the glovebox with it hanging on top, and it just hangs down...works real nice tho. As far as the springs, it depends what you want, the best handling springs are eibach (1.2") and the best quality big drop springs are intrax (1.7").

I'll probably end up going with the Eibach's because I don't want to lower it that much, just firm up the ride. I also noticed that some of you have the strut tower braces. I can't find any for the 3rd gen. Are you guys using the 4th & 5th gen model braces? I read a post a few threads away that says that the 4th & 5th gens will work on ours. Can this be confirmed? Sorry for all the questions. I'm new to the Maxima, or the import scene for that matter. I like how most of the parts are pretty inexpensive (under $200). Anyway, thanks again for all your help. L8r.
