Good news/Bad news

Good news/Bad news

Changed my spark plugs, cleaned entire engine bay and flushed cooling system yesterday . Came to find out the previous mechanic had put in regular ngk plugs instead of platinum. So all this time I was using the $2 plug instead of $27 plug . Anyway I changed to laser platinum. One of the plugs had oil on it so that might mean valve cover gasket . Just remember to check the parts that get put in your car. I finally heard the Greddy on a third gen with no mods also . I almost copped that joint but someone beat me to it.HA!
Anyway I still want a starter even though mine cranked right up this morning.
I still need these so if you have them please reply:
Oil dipstick

I'm putting copper plugs in my VE......the only thing plats give you is a longer life. I can handle changing them twice as much if it means paying $2 per plug versus $8.

especially considering the only thing that conducts electricity better is silver. copper is the second best conductor of electricity.

I like the plat plugs, except on domestics engines. And you should never clean the plat plugs because some of the cheaper plat plug only have a layer of plat on the tip and are not true 100% plat core. Check ou the NGK site they explain it much better. Also if your have a turbo or nitros you will need a colder plug. One reason the plat plug last longer is of because the platium and the operating temp is reached sooner ( self cleaning).

coppers aren't bad. I'm looking for a new starter also. It grind on me this morning when I started it, but I cranked it again and it started and seems to be fine now.

My starter doesnt touch anything at all... I just heard it spinning. But it's not loose.
About how long you guys think these plugs should last? Im thinkin till next summer??

platnium plugs should lask 60k coppers last 30k

hmmm...I am going to have to ask Jeff which plugs he put in my car. I had a set of platinums in there, but I don't know what were in my JDM engine. Either way, I have platinums with about 30-40k miles on them. I plan on putting in NGK Copper plugs when I tune it up next time. I don't drive enough to really need the longevity of the platinums.
