Do I need to change my WP on my JDM?

I just got my JDM VE delivered yesterday. It looks really clean inside. The valvetrain looked good as well as all the water passages. The waterpump doesnt have any play in it and it is not gunked up like all the other pics I saw. Is it ok to leave the waterpump that is on there already or am I gonna kick myself for it later?

Some Pics

haha. Everyone has the mandatory Jeff92se valvetrain pic now. Engine looks fairly clean. But there's no pics of the wp off. And you had better read your warranty. I'm 90% sure that they require you to replace the WP, frt/rear main seals, thermostat and misc things in order to meet the warranty specs

When I bought it, Jeff, they told me I had to replace all of the emissions items. He didn't say anything about the water pump. Did they mention any of that when you talked with them about the second engine?

I would HIGHLY suggest replacing the WP, no matter how nice it looks. You never know how long the engine has been sitting in a warehouse. Same with the seals and any gaskets. Also, I had Jeff replace the Knock Sensor. You might as well do everything possible while the engine is out of the car.

You have all the paperwork now but I'm pretty sure it said waterpump. Because if it goes out and you overheat the engine, it will pop the heat cap that they install (I know where btw heh) and void the warranty. Look at the tranny side of the front head. Right in the middle of the head, there is a wax cap that melts if the head temp goes over xx degrees.

it takes 10 minutes and another $80 to do it now. it takes 3-4 hours to do while it's in the car, and still costs $80. just do it now.

My engine only came with a 30 days warranty. I cant complain cause I got it for pretty cheap. It was $650 shipped to my house and no tax. They test the engine before they deliver it (at least they claim they did a compression test) and 30 days time should be enough to see if it has any real probs. I have had good luck with thier trannies in the past so hopefully this will be good too.

I guess I'll be taking off the WP tom.

always a good decision. Not too bad to do while in the car, but like the others above, while it's out doesn't hurt. Are you going oem or aftermarket?
