QTEC Cuttout Exhaust?

QTEC Cuttout Exhaust?
http://www.quicktimeperformance.com/QTEC/ Just wondering if anyone here has any experience with it. Does it have any long time problems such as Exhaust leaks out of the valve? Does it make the fuel run alot richer? & want to know if theres any way you can fit/weld it to a Cattman or WSP Y-Pipe, Without having to use their Y-Pipe? Is there noticable HP Gains? Last Question: Does it sound really good on a VE30DE? Thanks For THe Help

if you aren't boosted or pushing crap loads of power there's really no need for it.
on a side note, this one seems to be good and is quite a bit cheaper. http://www.mccordcg.com/mpp/mpp.htm

I have the Mccord cutout that mtcookson mentioned. It's a GREAT quality product. From the reviews I've read, the QTEC and Mccord are pretty much identical in value, quality and service. I just went with Mccord b/c it was slightly cheaper.
No exhaust leaks from me. I've had mine for a while. If it does leak a little, then you goop some red RTV around the plate and it seals great. Same with the QTEC. Both companies seal great but every now and then, you might hear a very slight and quiet leak.
No, it doesn't run any richer. Your stock o2 sensor does a good job of adjusting AFR to keep it at the optimal mixture. I have a wideband air/fuel sensor and I am able to keep an eye on my AFR accurately. You won't be any richer than stock. All you are doing is letting exhaust flow much more freely, not altering the fuel system.
Yes, you need to get a 2.5" cutout from Summit Racing and then bolt the electric cutout to the cutout. I welded my cutout in my testpipe in place of my catalytic converter. Here are some pics:
Yes, there is noticable HP gains and losses. You will noticably lose some low end power. But you will gain back the top end and then some. Therefore, I shave exactly .15 in the 1/4 mile everytime I test it, open and closed, at the track. A tenth and a half is hard to notice in the butt dyno, but I can care less... it's noticable on my timeslip. That's all I care about.
Yes, this mod is worth it to me b/c I can be quiet on the street and not get any slower in the 1/4 mile. I know I have maximum flow at the track. I am able to cut 2.1 60 foots, so my low end doesn't hurt that bad b/c of my higher stall and short gearing.
Last question, yes it sounds MEAN on the VE. It will sound mean on ANY motor. The bigger the displacement, the better it should sound.
Please check out my webpage for my cutout videos that I took much effort into making:

Scroll down to the Exhaust Cutout Videos section and view those two videos. They will help you determine the sound my VE Auto makes. Make sure you got your volume turned up before viewing the videos. LOL I hope I was able to answer your questions to your satisfaction.

When its shut does it have the stock sound still & will it perform as if its not there, like if I were to have a WSP Y-Pipe & Cat-Back will I still lose the Bottom End HP? I dont think it should

But when it's open, it will be CRAZY loud and the exhaust won't get the same exhaust velocity as it did before, so you will lose a little low end power. But once that VE starts to get above 4K and flows well, you will actually gain top end and get better exhaust flow. See what I'm saying?
Do you race at the track often and want the best exhaust flow possible? Or do you just want to be loud on the streets only when you want to be?

I really want that sound @ WOT that Iron Lung has on his '97 SE, For when I get my '97 SE. Have you seen the videos of his car? Does yours sound similar when you Rev? & I know that I wont get the loopy Idle like his, cause thats from the JWT Cams

Your 2.5" cutout can be welded anywhere that you think it can fit. I don't think you will be able to weld it in your Ypipe b/c of the lack of room. As soon as the banks come together and straighten up, you have your o2 sensor and a flex section. I got rid of my cat to make room for this. You can put your cutout after the cat, there is enough room there. But, you won't get the same gains as I did from it b/c the exhaust still has to flow through the cat.
Just get underneath your car and find out where you have about 12" of free space that you can cut and weld the cutout in.

Lets say I put it right after the Cat. Conv. But instead of Cat I put Race Pipe. Do you think it wil be almost as loud with the valve shut? Do you think it will be too loud that I will get ticketed? (thats with the full WSP 3" Exhaust & Race Pipe + Vavle Shut)

If emissions aren't a problem, I would recommend going with the same setup as I have. Get a "race pipe" aka "Testpipe" and get a muffler shop to weld in your cutout in the testpipe.
If you have the valve open, then yes, you will get a ticket. If it's closed and you have the stock catback and stock muffler, then it will be just as quiet as stock.
Don't get a 3" exhaust until you are running lots of power with a turbo or nitrous. Just get a normal 2.5" Ypipe and 2.5" testpipe and 2.5" cutout.

yeah.......shame on you duckman; Aaron had to hire a special hollywood camera crew to shoot those perfect angles of the vehicle inside and out during acceleration.
