Installed my Australian front sway bar today

Installed my Whiteline (Aus) front sway bar today. I obtained it for free, bought new poly sway bushings and new stock endlinks. Total cost ~$50. Installed it, fit like a glove. Took it for a test drive and it feels great. I'm 2 sheets to the wind right now (Red Sox stunk it up, drank heavily as a result) so I'll give more impressions tomorrow once I sleep off this steaming pile of crap of a game.

What is the difference between a US bar and the australian one? Is it thicker?

Hey cool, can you compare how this sway bar looks compared to the front ST one? I think Matt has pics on his site...

I'm just wondering if it's shaped different or is mounted in a different way.

The specs on this FSB is 30mm according to Whiteline.... can you verify this? Because they sell these FSBs up here too, and I was comparing them to the Suspension Techniques one, which is quoted at 1.25", which translates to 31.75mm instead. The stock hollow one is 1.252" or 31.8mm BTW.

The whiteline is a little larger than 30mm, I know because I initially bought 30mm sway bar bushings from Energy Suspension for it, and they were too small, so I moved up to 1.25" bushings, and they fit great. It attaches to the stock endlinks (look like mini ball joints). Mine looked in rough shape, so I bought new ones. You can buy 4th gen endlink bushings and they will fit ($1 each from Courtesy parts, you need 4). The bar fit perfectly. If the whiteline is cheaper than the ST, I say go for it.

[edit] Just to add, it doesn't have the flat area in the middle of it like the stock sway bar so your ground clearance is reduced a bit. Not sure if the ST is the same way. [/edit]

Ah, okay thanks. It sounds like the bar is a lot like the ST one then, even in diameter. The only difference is the ST bar is attached at the ends with a standard pair of sway bar endlinks rather than a joint like the stock and Whiteline bars. I guess you're supposed to use the supplied Whiteline endlinks if you buy it new. You can see pics of these endlinks here: http://www.pdm-racing.com/installs/i...ntswaybar.html

Weird looking, like a figure 8 with bushings in it....

I guess I'll probably go with the ST bar then, since it's about $20 cheaper and the endlinks are simpler to install (and are mechanically simpler too). I was just wondering if there was an advantage to the Whiteline setup, but I can't really see how. It's not like the FSB moves around that much I think...

No, there aren't any supplied endlinks when you buy it new.....I emailed Whiteline and they told me that you use the endlinks for the stock sway bar. I only bought new ones because mine looked in rough shape when I checked them. That 240 FSB is totally different in shape and design, those figure 8 endlinks aren't even close to what ours are like. But, if the ST is cheaper, then just buy it. I'm sure the difference is negligible.
