I just got a '92 SE 5-Speed and noticed that there is a slight kinda S/C'er whine sound under acceleration in 1st gear & a little in 2nd? Im pretty sure the tranny needs some work @ 200,000 miles, but I was just wondering if there was any specific/common probably that you could let me know about. Thanx For The Help

 

my 90 se has done that ever since i replaced my bearings and seals. my guess was that it was due to me not measuring anything when i put them in (didn't really know what i was doing at the time so measuring wasn't quite known to me... on top of that i was quite pissed at having a bearing go out on me breaking the tranny forcing me to buy a used one that also had a bad bearing when the guy told me it was a good low mileage tranny )

my guess... the tranny is getting worn and everything is getting out of specs causing the whining noise.

 

i think its just the way they are, i know my 2nd gear made a little noise at low rpm if i can remember... last time i drove my car was 7 months ago

200k on one VE tranny? how does that happen

 

Mine whines in 1st gear below 3,500rpms at 1/2 or less throttle.
