The recall is to fix a manufacturers defect. Once the recall is completed at the dealer its no longer the manufacturers issue "per-se". It is and it isn't. Larry Long is collecting all the cases of re-occuring rust and is preparing to file a case against Nissan.

Tho I don't have time to wait, I already tried to sell it once and got screwed with a fraudulent check.

I have kids and my seatbelt is not working..kinda useless for me

Rust is affecting my car too

I discovered the Rust on both sides of my trunk when I took my struts out for replacemnt. It looks like I need to visit my friendly Nissan dealer too.

Wow, I have heard/read about this recall before but never really paid much thought to it. If it's a reasonable day as far as weather tommorow I'm gonna go rip the back seat out, I'm kinda worried as to what I'll find though Much respect though for going through all the hassle man. It's good to see some one take a piece of the pie back from the stealership. I was going to say the lawyer is going to cost you a fortune but sounds like you got that covered. And you're right, there's no way you should let them buy your car because of the recall damage. I love my car and I wouldn't want to take any money in its place. I think I'll be lucky though, my car was down in New Mexico for what I believe to be most of its life and it's so dry there rust isn't really a problem. Up here in washington though it's a different story. Good luck in your battles with Nissan. (be carefull they might go bankrupt! )

Well looks like i'm in the same boat now,
started to hear banging sound in the rear left wheel, decided to tear the back seat and the paneling in the trunk, to my suprise both wheels wells are all corroted and so is the area around where the struts are bolted to. it's bad real bad. in other words this car is undriveable.as of saturday 3/3/07. The back of the car will come down soon if i keep driving, i hate this. I love my maxima 90.
The car is such in good shape outside and inside, to bad the corrosion is so bad in the trunk.

I wish I could fix it, but it will cost so much money.....this really sucks !!!

If there is a case out there against nissan, i want in, i don't want the money, I just want the back fixed.

I got under my car over the weekend and mine is pretty bad but surprisingly not in the common areas. There's a hole the size of my hand in the floor board on the rear passenger's side, the left frame rail behind the subframe is rusted through in one spot, and, one of the common spots, the left rear seat belt retractor isn't on the body anymore. I now have much more work to do than getting the engine back in and such.

I have an 89 Maxima GXE have owned it for 1 yr and it's always had the fuel leak problem when I fill it up,I'm starting to smell gas fumes coming from the rear even at 1/2 full or less.Haven't checked the seat belt though or the rust. Thanks for the info and the contact numbers, will be calling nissan from work tommorrow.

I purchased this car from the original owner here in Oklahoma.

Hopefully having this recall performed on my car. No rust that I can see from inside the car around the seatbelt - which is a plus. But its still leaking gas which is no good. This info is a huge help

If you're leaking gas, check out the rubber hoses as well. Mine was leaking gas but it was a rubber hose, not the fuel filler tube even though there was quite a bit of rust. I would get it checked for rust regardless though.

I'll give it a look - but it's leaking RIGHT under where the filler tube is. I'll investigate further before giving Nissan a call. Thanks for the heads up
