Can you get the AE shift **** & pedals straight from the dealer? What part #'s if so? And also, is there any problems with installing them on a '92 SE? Thanx Alot!

 

Yes, i forget but they will have the PN, you need to shave the clutch and brake pedals to fit them, and figure out how to rig the gas pedal onto the lever.

The shift **** just screws right on, takes about a minute. The pedals are a bit trickier. They aren't designed to fit our cars, so you have to do some custom work to them. I bought my shift **** from Jerry Rome Nissan when they had that big discount last spring. I probably should have bought the pedals and the 350z dead pedal, too, but I was being a tight wad.

I think Mizeree_X has installed his pedals. I can't remember who else, though.

 

The word from MizereeX is that the deadpedal isn't the right fit either...

I will let him explain how it isn't, since I haven't seen or tried it.

the clutch and brake have to be cut some to fit right. the gas pedal isn't that hard either. i can't expain it right now, i will take some pics after work and post them if MizereeX doesn't post anything.

 

Ok, my hangover headache just went away from last night Yes, the clutch and brake pedal covers are smaller than stock, so you have to cut off a little metal on the pedal brackets to get them to squeeze on. You cut parallel to the slant of the pedal brackets. I took 3/8" (guessing, can't remember exactly, as I eyeballed it when I did it) off of each pedal. I cut on the left side of the brake pedal and the right side of the clutch pedal so the pedals would be slightly farther away from each other.

As for the 350Z dead pedal, it comes on a plastic block. I was hoping that the black "traction" raised circles would be attached to the metal plate, but they are part of the plastic part that we can't use (unless you want it to look really silly. So, if you attached the dead pedal to the floor, our existing patch of plastic there would come through the holes and look stupid. I guess you could take some black material and glue it to the back of the metal plate to make it look clean, but I haven't attempted it yet since its just a cosmetic mod and I don't feel like putting a ton of effort into it just yet.

I was reading somewhere that you just leave the black part on the back, and just cut off most of it and leave about 1/4 inch left to the pedal (or more if you want) and then attack it to the dead pedal area, it was on someones 5th gen cardomain..

 

I'm guessing the 5th gen's kick panel area is different than ours. I was thinking of cutting the plastic, but I don't have the proper tools to do it without it being really jagged.

hokay, here are the pics

this is the back of the pedal. there is a groove on the left that the gas lever fits in. the little black clip clips at the top.



the black hole is where the rest of the lever fits. no need for explanation.



there is some small, small modification for this to work for me. the stock lever is on a pivot point. i had to shave some of the pivot point to fit right.
