Do you think my Knock Sensor is bad? I just bought a '92 SE 5-speed & the engines got 60,000 miles on it. The car had a new engine dropped in and Im not sure if they replace the KS, if not than its got 200K on it!!! Also, How much is a new one @ the Dealer? Thanx Alot!

This doesn't exactly make sense...

If the "new engine" has 60k miles on it, why would you put in a knock sensor with 200k miles on it?

The knock sensor is on the engine, so whatever the miles are on the engine (not the chassis) are the miles on the KS, unless it was replaced and then it would have less miles on it.

You will usually know when the knock sensor starts to go. After the car gets really warm (say after 45 minutes to an hour of non-stop driving) the car feels very sluggish. At least that's what mine did.

 

What I meant is that my car has 200K on it. But it had a new engine put in, that has about 60K Im just not sure if the KS will be bad @ 60K
