window goes up very slow

My driver's side front window goes up really slow, a good 20 seconds (over twice as long as the passgener front window). Going down is faster. I've replaced the window regulators on all the windows, and this isn't like before when the regulator breaks and the window falls down but won't come up.

Another thing is that the window sometimes does not want to go up the last quarter of an inch. I can play with it and cycle up and down to get it to go into the gasket or I can manually pull on it to give it an assist. Things are much worse (slower and won't fully close) when the window is wet.

I am wondering if my motor is dying, and if a new motor would help. But the price of the new motor is $200+. So I am wondering if I should go to the junkyard or buy a used one off of ebay. Or does some internal mechanism just need to be lubricated or aligned?

Apologies if this question has been asked before, but I tried to look back at old posts and didn't see anything about it.

try lubricating the track, if not the motor windings may just be getting worn out. try a boneyard first..

Do you sell a motor without a regulator? I see no point in buying a new regulator. Is there interchangeablity between motors between doors, or does it have to come from the same door?

the reman motor is without the regulator.
you could always buy the complete and sell the regulator off of it.
the motors are sided, but not indvidual doored.

I recently had the same problem with my '89. I replaced the motor 3 times with ones I knew worked perfectly (from my other car) and that didn't solve it. So then I replaced the entire window mechanism - again with proven ones - and that didn't solve it either.
After doing some searching I found a little mention of a recall or something (I can't remember the specifics) and it said the rubber window tracks were being replaced on '89's because the tolerances were too close causing slow window operation and binding. So I replaced the rubber window tracks with ones from my '90 and guess what - windows work perfectly now.
Give it shot, might work for you too.

This makes a lot of sense...because it does seem like it is binding in the rubber gasket. How much of a pain was it to replace?

Well, because I had previous experience removing the window mechanism and the window itself, it took me about 15-20 minutes per door, from start to finish.
The only thing you really need to know is this: the rubber has a metal tab on it to help the window go up while driving at highway speeds (wind force) - this tab is near the top front portion of the rubber - make sure you slowly apply even pressure from both sides of that tab while removing the rubber - otherwise you'll tear the rubber. Obviously, you should only be concerned about the tearing on the replacement rubber. I would try getting them from the wreckers as I've heard the dealer wants a fortune for new ones.
