92 Max SE Timing Belt "Skipping" some advise..

Hi, I currently own a GXE and it's nice but always wanted to have an SE...someone is selling one in my area but they mentioned that the Timing Chain is "Skipping" do you guys know what this means???
The guy mentioned it might need a new engine or just a new Chain, but he doesn't want to bother fixin it...
Do you guys know what this timing chain slipping might be, would you need a new engine to fix this??
Thanks alot I really appreciate any info on this from you guys, thanks!!

The timing chains on the ve tend to last the lifetime of the engine. How many miles does the it have?

If it has timing chain problems, it is probably going to be cheaper to put a new engine in than to have someone fix it. The shop time on replacing timing chains is something super high, like 16 hours. I can't remember exactly, but mine would have cost over $1000 @ $70/hour. For that, I bought a JDM engine and paid extra to have it installed by master Jeff92SE.

Anyway, my timing chain bound up, so it is possible to have timing chain problems, although from what I understand it is very rare.

If the car is making ticking sounds, though, I would guess that it is the VTCs or possibly busted exhaust manifold studs.

$1000 is too much for a Max with engine problems. the whole car is only worth 2500 at most, and if yousubtract $1000 in labor and $1000 for the engine, you don't have a $1000 car left.
