Does the car throw any codes when the O2 is bad? I also think I am running rich (smell and such) but it doesnt show the service engine light.Also is there a easy way to get the codes or do i need a obd1 light to read them? I rembeer on my saturn you could just jump 2 wires on the plug in for the reader and it would blink the service engine light.

I had a problem with my o2 as well, and my engine light never came on
not once, and 1 of the three wires were off, is the smell inside the car or outside only?

 

there is a test screw on the ECM. to check for codes. see the stickies.

 

ok thanx for the stickie tip, the smell is outside/ a little inside but only becasue I have an exhaust leak around my y pipe/studs. mostly noticed it outside though.

mine had the 02 code and the smell was bad.
