Why does my alarm keep going off at random times??
I have a 91se (5spd, if that matters). My stock alarm will go off at random times while it is parked. It is parked on leveled ground and I can't figure out why sometimes it goes off! If it is a loose connection of some sort, is there a common place to start looking? Has anyone had this problem? I recently replaced my alternator, but would it even have anything to do with replacing the alternator, such as resetting codes? I appreciate any help.

do you have a FSTB?
how tightly is your hood closing?
next time you get a chance, let the alarm arm itself, then go pull up on the right side of the hood just a hair. see if that sets the alarm off.
that happened to me in the past when my FSTB was just barely rubbing the bottom of the hood and holding it up about 1/8".. I just removed the hood sensor and redrilled the mounting tabs on it. moved it up about 3/8" and bolted it back together. haven't had a false alarm since then.

Now that you mention the hood thing, I hit a deer earlier in the year, so my hood sticks up on the right side about 1/8". Where can I find the hood sensor? Thanks Matt!!!!

FSTB = front strut tower brace
they're around $40.. get one.
for the sensor, look on the right side of the fender well, just in front of the strut tower. you'll see a black box with a little plunger sticking out of the top. that's the hood sensor. unplug it and remove it from the car.. 10 or 12mm bolts. redrill the holes to that the sensor mounts a bit higher on the fender wall (that means drill holes in it that are farther down from the current ones), then put it back on there.

your car doesn't like how you're treating it. it's telling u that is need an oil change and various other parts to make it happy...so it's constantly reminding you by honking the horn like an old nagging wife.
then again...it can be the hood switch.

mine does....
you have to wipe the valve cover down with a diaper when you change the oil, otherwise it gets pissed and pukes oil all over the engine bay.. but I also have to let it stretch its legs every so often. if it doesn't hit 120+ on a monthly basis, it gets mad and runs like !)@#(. thus the reason I go to the track several times a month.
hey, I can't be all wrong! 216,000 miles and I'm still holding up against 3.5VQs on the track!
