91 Maxima license plate holder

I just got plates for my 91 maxima. The previous owner did not have front plates since he/she was from Florida. I went to the local Nissian dealer and they wanted 57 bucks for a mount. I looked on the bumper and there is no where to screw it in. I went to Pet Boys and they wanted to sell me a 25 dollar grill and zip tie the license plate to it. Is there anywhere online you guys think I can a mount for cheap? I tried google/ebay. I heard screwing it into your bumper can crack the bumper and plus it looks ugly that way. Thanks.

Well actually you have two options. If you bought the car from a dealership. I believe the state requires them to provide a mount for the front plate. But some states have been known to do messed up things before. Check around the local junkyards, you just might get luckly.

I know that my friend zip tied it to his visor because he didn't want to have it on his bumper. Go to a junkyard perhaps?

actually the hardware is there to mount the factory tag holder. You see unless it has an aftermarket bumper on it (which is possible) it has metal clips behind the bumper. If you buy the plastic tag holder (sorry I had a spare but gave it away over a year ago) you will see that the bottom connects to a bumper bolt and then once you move it into place you will see where you need to drill for the 2 upper bolts. Drill the holes out and the nuts should be behind it (unless its an aftermarket bumper). not sure what the thread pitch and bolt size is but I am pretty sure its the same as most bolts on the car like the fender bolts etc.

I would just go to a junk yard and pick one up or ask on the for sale forum for one. There are a lot of them out there that people take off of their car. You should be able to find one.
