hey, you lighting experts

I normally don't give a crap about lighting, but I decided I want something different than I currently have in my foglights.

Do you guys think the stock wiring harness for the fog lights can handle 85 watt bulbs?

I don't really want to bother with upgrading the wiring harness, but the cost difference between 55w and 85w is negligible, so I thought I might just order the stronger bulbs.

Any thoughts or ideas?

thanks,

chris

I don't really have much to say because I don't have foglights at all, and I'm sure the OEM harness is different than aftermarket ones, why not try finding an H3 upgraded wiring harness on ebay and go from there

run em' until the harnesses melt. it probably won't happen very quickly because the fog lights aren't running constantly. i give the harnesses 3 years before melting.

hahaha, that would probably be about 9 years for me, then. In the last two years I haven't even driven my car 3,000 miles. Over 90 percent of that has been in the daytime with no lights on.

thanks

I am much too lazy for that. It would at least double the time I would be out in the cold garage.

are you making whole new harnesses for your corner lights/fogs/headlights?

I guess I could see the corner lamp thing if your running a higher wattage bulb, but be careful, as when the cornering lamp is on it is really bright for oncoming drivers. Also if you wire it right, you can have the corner lamp rewire and the fog light rewire, and still be able to pull your corner lamp and take it to a bench just by disconnecting the little connector.

I'm not making a whole new harness, I took the aftermarket harness from some clear corners I got as a present and rewired them the way I want them, using LED bulbs and xenon bulbs in the corners, also it's rewired for the LED turn signals, and theres a relay for the lo-beam of the projectors, hopefully everyone will be able to see it soon. I just ordered my tinted corners from mike today and the LEDs for the turn signals, still have to get the amber paint and sand/buff my bumper signals
