Question

Normally i would search for this answer but i can't so i have no choice but to ask. sry if this was asked before. my power steering doesn't work. i came to the conclusion that it is the power steering hose and not the pump. the reason i say that is because when i put power steering fluid it works for about two hours then slowly goes back to the way it was. im assuming the hose has a leak. if it were the power steering pump then it wouldn't work at all if i put fluid in it. am i right in my opinion? im still an automotive student so if any of this question sounds stupid, sry.

fluid can leak from anywhere in the system whether it be the hoses, pump, or rack.
you need to clean up the parts, and then let the car run for a while. then look where the leak is .

What internetautomar said. Find where it's leaking first. The large hose on the left side of the firewall is the high pressure hose and is a common source for a leak. You may see it "sweat" or ooze fluid, depending on how bad it is. The rest of the PS lines run from from this too, and one even leads to the radiator. Good luck.

Leak should be pretty obvious as there would be a big oily mess on the floor or on the hoses.
