92 Maxima Project - Update
I know its been a while, but I have been steadily working and progressing.
For those who may not know, I started with a BEAT TO HELL '92 SE that I paid very little for.
I completely replaced the interior, have done extensive work to the engine, and have stripped (to bare metal) and reworked the exterior.
In the process, I added a few custom touches like a shaved rear deck lid (top and rear), shaved side mouldings, and a few other small things.
Before - This is from the day I bought it
And here are current pictures (as of today)
For a more extensive list of pictures (I have about 500 pictures of the entire process), check out

Car looks very nice. Excellent work on the body and paint and putting everything together.
Personally, I think black interior would have been a little better with blue, but it's all about your own preference.
I am not digging the steering wheel, mostly because you lose cruise control and the horn (?) My steering wheel was trashed and I bought one out of an s13 (late 89-91 240sx) with the cruise buttons. You can also get one out of a non-airbag z32 (90-92 300zx) with cruise buttons. Both steering wheels line up with the Maxima steering column and are thicker and sportier feeling. They are also three spoke instead of four.

I didn't lose the horn or the cruise. If you look close, the wheel has 3 horn buttons - 1 in the middle and 1 under the leather near where your thumbs rest if you hold the wheel at 10 & 2. All are fully funtional.
As far as the cruise goes, the slider rings and pins inside the hub are intact, and I have run the wires behind the spokes of the wheel itself. What you can't see (because it's not there yet) is the small cruise switch that I modified from a '93 (think airbag wheel with the small switch pod). The switch pod will be located in a new slot in the right spoke of the wheel. It will look very clean - I've already prototyped it out.
Keep in mind the car is a '92, and did not have airbags, so I didn't lose anything there.

All of the dash trim is (except one peice) from a 93 donor. 93's had airbags, and because of this, the steering wheel tilt is in a different spot (slightly bigger then the 92). The black peice that holds the main cruise, mirrors, fog light switches etc had to be reused. But that's it.
