get rid of that filter!!
about 2 years ago, i hooked up a CAI with a stupid e-bay "no name" filter. 3 months later i check the filter.. and it melted into 3 pieces.. i was riding around with no air filter for who knows how long.

... this is the reason u got that crap for a penny. whats the adapter made of?

does your filter have this mesh screen on the end? seems like a lot of ebay filters are of this kind. if it does, i would trash it and get a quality air filter like K&N. that mesh screen won't filter worth a crap.

so K&N actually gives u gains over filters of other brands? or its just that it wouldn't fall apart as easily?

well, it's a reputable company and their filter lasts quite a long time since it's washable and reusable. they also flow better than paper filters.

OK PEOPLE, here let me help you just a little, I'll push you in a good direction. Both Cattman and Stillen have good intake designs. If you wanted a MAF adaptor, the way I did mine is the cheap way. But it sucks in too much heat. The Cattman and Stillen both have great designs, and put the intake out of the engine bay. Here's the link for Cattman, but I do not know stillens.

are there any other manufacturers of CAI for our VG maxima's? how high does cattman rank with those with more experience?

Last I knew, Place racing made one for our motor, but I'm not too sure anymore. I've been out of the loop for about 3 months.
