power distribution in pedal for the ve?

It seems like when I drive any other car, most of the power is in the beginning of the gas pedal. My VE on the other hand, seems like the power is distributed evenly throughout the pedal. Therefore, it seems like my car has to work harder to accelerate in normal conditions than other cars. My friends cars seem like they'll accelerate on the touch of the pedal, whereas I actually have to depress the pedal to accelerate normally. Is this normal, or is something wrong? It's always been that way, but it just dawned on me that maybe it could be fixed. Would a UDP help?

I noticed the same thing but, think it is just how the pedal is adjusted in relation to the throttle body. It can't be that it has to work any harder. I wouldn't worry about it.

no i didnt say the car actually has to work harder, because my car stays in lower rpms than all my friends cars. What happens tho, is that you don't have to press the pedal as far to accelerate normally, therefore making it seem like my car has to work harder. They just seem like they're easier to drive.

You have to reset and recalibrate your gas pedal. The recal unit is up above the pedal arm.

If you look at some throttle bodies, the round part where the throttle cable attaches is oblong- that way for the first little bit of the pedal they push down, the throttle opens a lot. on ours, it's perfectly round- so the throttle opens the same for the first few mm on the pedal as the last..

some engines are also very torquey and will feel like they do that because of the torque curve.

it's normal with the Maxima, don't worry about it.

im not worried about it, because its always been that way, just wanted to know why and if i could change that....so thanks for the input. Would recalibrating the TB affect the car in a negative way, or maybe worsen gas mileage?

It was pretty scary too when my mom needed my car for a day and she said it seemed so sluggish, and she drives a Honda Odyssey.

Take off your intake pipe and have someone press the pedal until the TB begins to open, until it does, you can tighten up on all of that slack.
