ECU Error 51 on a 93

What would the above error mean on a 93 Maxima with the 3l V6 S with the VG30-327933 engine.

In the tech tips it says that it is an open injector cicuit but that's for the California model. Is that a model that was only made in California or is there a specific model called that because ours does not mesion anything about it being a Cali' model.

Can anyone help?

Does anyone know how I would be able to prove this error. Does it involve tracing the injectors and making sure they have good connections? or is there more to it?

I'v been having the same problem for the last couple of weeks. I checked the comp when my car was idleing very ruff and the engine light came on. it's been on steadly all day today. Anyone know what the problem can be. I have a 94 GXE ve? Any help would be awsome. When I checked the code I was hoping for a missfire so all I would have to do was change a plug.

Here I am to break your hopes and dreams. 51 = Injectors...***** up, go in, replace 'em. If the light's on...well..

oh and Hemphire, you CANNOT have "gxe" and "ve" in the same description (unless I'm missing something )
If you have a GXE, you have a VG.

By the way, a friend of mine's max was throwing a 51 as well as idling/running rough (vehicle's from MO) An injector was out.

Could a faulty det sensor cause rough idling?

Update on my problem. Well turns out it was an injector. Now replaced. Oh and the VE was a typo

Heres what I got from Alldata.

The ECU detected an open in the circuit.

I hope that works for you.

Am going to be checking the car this weekend but I before I do, can any one offer any more guidance with the problems I am having.

The car is misfiring, is using far too much petrol, which is reflected in the consumption, and power is down by at least 25%. I've read on another site that this could be caused by a faulty det sensor. The text goes something along the lines of, if the det sensor thinks there is a fault, it retards or advances the timing(can't remember which one), which then affects the fuelling, which then affect the output, which also affects the general running.

Can anyone make any sence of what I have just said?

Cheers
