Mine is doing that too. Though it it is doing it more than I have noticed before. Im getting my transmission flushed so that may fix the problem. It also seems to shift sluggish and slowly when driving in a lot of stop and start driving. Does your car do this??? Take off in first gear with the pedal down flat or down a long way with jurk into 2nd gear sort of rough too.... Strange!!

Well, here is the URL to the thread about my tranny.
http://forums.maxima.org/showthread....threadid=31845

It has since died totally and I traded it in on a new ride (2001 Expedition). I loved my 3rd Gen, but there's a time to move on (especially trying to do road trips with my family of 5)

Good luck on yours.
FYI, there are no NEW trannys available for your Max, unless you get a TOTAL rebuild from Level 10.

There are other threads in here about the tranny's but a quick summary is:
1. take care of it.
2. get it looked at (by a reputable shop or dealer) if you experience strange issues.
3. tranny rebuilds can run you from 1900 to 3000 and according to all the threads I have read in the past couple of months only last 30k to 60k miles.

Later
