Hey. I have a 1993 Maxima SE and its been dyin alot on me lately when I'm stopped. I don't know why but i think it might have to do with the A/C or something because after i turn it on, sometimes a while later...it will just die on me. please let me know what i can do to fix it and how much it will cost. (On a good note, this is my first maxima problem i've had.)

AAC valve

Could be a cause. This device bumps up the idle when accessories turn on. It may just need a clean as it can get a build up of material that comes through from the PCV valve. The AAC valve is located on the intake manifold and is easy to get at and to take apart to clean.

This is what I have noticed. When in "Drive" and stopped on a traffic light, I notice that if I use my turn signal, or turn on my headlights, my idle will drop by 100-150 RPM's. But when I turn off these accessories, it will idle around 750 RPM.

Could this be related to the AAC valve?

AAC Valve

Yes. It could be. You should notice no discernable drop in idle when you turn on your accessories.

I wish i had that same conclusion to my mystery but unfortunately my torque converter was locking up and needs to be replaced, I'm sure I don't have that much longer on present tranny.

Re: Could a

It would depend upon what you get done with the tune up and the actual cause. Cars are never simple.
