Need help with KYB GR2s! (rear)
Need help with KYB GR2s! (rear)
The front struts went in fine, along with the Eibach springs.
I got the old strut cartridge out (pasanger rear) relatively easily. The problem comes when I try to put the new GR2 in. There is a little thing that looks like an inverted cup on the end of the GR2 that makes it a tad too long for the retainer thing to completely screw on. It goes on maybe 1/2 way then stops.
Did I get sent the wrong struts, or an I not seeing something?

EDIT: OK I see you say the nut goes on half way and then stops (not sure how I missed that the first time I read it). That is fine and has plenty of thread on for it to be secure.
This has come up before but only with people that got the struts used. The reason being is that KYB gives you a special nut that goes on the end because of this very reason. If you didnt throw the box away look inside of it for the nut.
If you cant find the nut then you can cut that bottom piece off of the strut...do not cut into the strut cartridge itself but just that round bracket looking thing.
Mine had the nut in them when I got them and I just used it. Granted it will not go all the way on but as long as you have 3 or for threads on its fine. I cant remember how far mine went on but know it wasnt all the way on.
Awsome, thanks alot. About 3 threads went in, so I put it back together.
The car looks so much better now without that rediculous wheel gap. I really want to drive it around, but I still need to replace the left rear strut/spring and get it aligned. Working outside in this November weather is the worst.
