Since the fuel lines on VGs are prone to cracking and wearing over time, I was thinking about replacing them with silicone or stainless steel. Can this be done?

it took 10 years for the rubber to crack so if i still have the car 10 years from now, i'll just replace them again...i don't see any added benefit...or know if it can be done
