**** and cheap.

That's me. A perfectionist with a small budget. I'm wiring an amp under my passenger seat and have run into a couple of obstacles. First, does anyone have a good idea as to where to run the power wire through the firewall without cutting a new hole and without using the steering column exit? And links to previous installs would be fantastic. Second, where can I find replacement carpet cheap? The previous owner must had a huge bottle of coke explode all over the carpet. I've cleaned it the best I can, but it is stained nasty. Might as well do the whole thing over if I can.

-u can use the holes in the fender, just go under the drivers side dash, i think its behind the fuse box. look for wires going into the firewall/fenderwall, its easy you'll find it
-id check a junk yard for the carpet.

There's a company that makes repro carpet kits for any car and in any color for around $150.00. I would suggest that over the J/Y(if you really are a perfectionist). Post pics if you can when you're done !!!!

Definitely do it for 150 bucks. I have to go out with my girl, post a link if you can. I will also post pics when I do it. Probably need new seat covers too. Cloth NOT leather. Too hot here.

I think I found the hole through the firewall/fender to the fuse box. Now... any suggestion on how to snake a pliable wire through a foot of twistys roomed by a huge harness???

As for wireing through the firewall.....just tie a metal end(like a boken coths hanger) to it and push it through.

Airspace? Check. For extra insurance, I'm mounting a small fan under there as well. Picking one up at an electronics company for about ten bucks. It's about 2" diameter. I figure that should be enough for a small 4 channel amp.

OK. Spent a few hours today planning where all the wiring is going for the amp. Took apart so many trim pieces to find a good spot to run the power wire. If anyone is thinking about installing an amp and needs advice, I can now consider myself helpful. If I have time tomorrow, I am going to find out how fun it is to run new speaker wire through the door harness. Yeeehaw! Sorry, forgot my digi at home. No pics, but... I remember everything. That's the good thing about doing the work yourself.

It's a small one. 4x50(rms), but the fan is cheap enough and it will help me not to worry. How long did it take you to get to the door harness for the speakers? Did you ground it at the seat bolt?

Man, you're into some weird ****.

What do u mean the door harness? the whole amp setup took me 2 1/2 hours.. i didnt wana ground it to the car floor/seat (where it was visable) so i ran a 2 foot wire up the center console and grounded it out some place around there. as for each speaker getting signal i ran the speaker wires in every witch way with out cutting anything, or going under the carpet.
yeah lets see some pics when your done...
-the word lame is so lame... in that context

K. I've got to go to a rainy soccer game, so no install today. I promise I will try to make pics so that I can post for anyone who cares. I think grounding to the seat bolt is the closest and stealth, so I'm doing that. As for the speaker wire... it looks like it is going to be a PITA to fish it through the stock door harness. Impatience does not mix well with perfection, but I'll try anyway. If anyone has any ideas, I'm open for suggestion.
