im assuming that the starter on an auto is different than a 5speed correct? or the VE motor....

That is correct sir. The Manual starter has a clutch killswitch sorta type deal while the automatic doesn't have it. I'm not sure if the two are interchangable like if you can use an automatic starter and just get rid of the depress-clutch to start feature.

The "depress-clutch to start feature" has nothing to do with the starter. The clutch pedal has a sensor on it that tells the computer to start the engine only with pedal pushed in. I know Because you have to bypass that sensor to use remote start. I don't know if the starters are actually different though.

Oh I see, this is where I got my impression from http://www.autozone.com/servlet/UiBr...3d801f46e8.jsp I guess I read what was stated in that link incorrectly about auto/manual starters.

If you check around and call autostores, they usually asked me if I had a auto or manual so I would guess there would be a difference.

I was quoted $240 for the starter+install I decided to save $140 and bought the starter and install it myself. Its quite EZ to do

the vg 5spd is interchangeable with a ve 5spd. same bell housing. but you want the ve 5spd because it has a limited slip differential.
