ignition or starter?

My thoughts are leaning to a fried starter...

So I've been having CEL codes posted on this other thread http://forums.maxima.org/4th-generat...ils-p1320.html

now today the car won't start, battery is like 3 months old Duralast Gold. No click click click sound.

Wondering if it could be the ignition switch and its not recognizing my key fob? Then it would think I'm using a non programmed key.

thoughts? or its 90% chance its the starter?

Try bypassing the ignition and jump starting the starter, if car turns then it shouldn't be the starter.

Has your alarm gone off within 24 hours prior to this happening? If so than check NATS. If starter made stange noise last time it started like a grinding or screeching sound then the starter is fried. The coil code will come up if there is a problem with coil circuit. Have you replaced any coils with aftermarket ones(Autozone, Pepboys, ect.)? Only use OEM coils even if it means using junk yard ones. OEM coils are only a few dollars more than aftermarket ones.

The starter can lock up without it producing the *click* sound. I've found this out twice since i've owned my car.

I vote for a starter. Had to replace those on multiple Maximas

Did your starter make that screeching/grinding noise? Mine is making this sound too.

Dang, ok. Well glad yours is fixed now. I havent checked for codes yet. I was able to go the the gym, then to the store and back home without it making that grinding noise though. I did, however take my time turning the key and started the car slowly each time instead of just putting the key in and turning it fast.

I am thinking I might have had a starter die suddenly on me as well. 95 maxima with 240k on its second starter that I changed a few years ago, pulled it into the driveway to check codes and work on the rear windows, then went to start it again and nothing, dead clicks from the relays and the starter solenoid but no dice on cranking.
