Auto Tranny???

As some of you know I used to have 3rd gen but it decided to die on me so now Im left with it sitting on the side of the house.

Somebody wants to buy the tranny from me for $150. I was like you are kidding right. It has 240k on it but it is in great shape it shifted fine before the engine blew on me. I said $400 and told him it should not give you problems for awhile. He said he has an 92 GXE(not a VE) that runs 14s . That is one reason why he needs my transmission.

Is that a fair deal???

150 is what pick-n-pull yards charge for a tranny

I would sell it for $200. But selling a Auto maxima tranny can be very risky. So he's running 14's wow he must be shooting the **** out of the car. With an auto yeah right.

A 14 second VG will probably toast a 240k mile 3rd gen auto.

Edit: Meaning an engine with that much power would destry the tranny. Worded it poorly.

Yeah it is an auto but like I said I really never abused it so it would last him a little bit. But the dude is like 17 years old which there is nothing wrong with that but he must have some nice parents or make good money to have a 14 sec 92 Nissan Maxima GXE. He told me he has lots of mods. That he would probably smoke my 4th gen which he probably would because it is an auto too. I am going to do a five speed swap in the summer because I really wanted a five speed but came along this 97 Black on Black with 64k so I had to grab it up. I have had it less than 2 months and only put about 3000 miles on it. I will probably sell it to him for $200 or maybe sell him the whole car.

If anybody wants some ebiach springs(less than 2000 miles) or Tokico struts(Less than 20k but still in great shape) for their third gen let me know because I am taking the suspension off of the car this week hopefully. $150obo for the springs and $200obo for the struts plus shipping for both.

you guys are talking about shifting from auto to 5 speed... I've been checking up om that a little bit but info is hard to get around here... not so strange considering there were only about 300 3rd gen sold in sweden between 89-94... no one has that much experience from them, all you get is 'I don't know'.

I know the dimensions are the same for manual and auto, that the manual should fit on any 3rd gen, but what about pedals and wiring and such? I imagine it to be a little work involved but exactly how much? what is it you need to do except mounting new pedals and wires for clutch and control arm for gears? would you have to rebuild a lotta things or just replace them?

would someone with a little time like to explain? :attention

I'm in the 14s. My tranny holds up fine. Just keep the fluid temps low and put in a shift kit to reduce slippage and it should be just fine for the power I'm pushing through it.

So, this so called 14 second VG Auto, is he spraying nitrous or turbo? I haven't ever heard of an all motor VG Auto that runs faster than 15.3s, and that was done by an old Maxima.org member that had all bolt ons, cams and headwork. I'm not saying this guy doesn't run 14s in his NA VG Auto, but if he does, I'd like to know what he's done to it b/c that's quite an achievement.

Tell him there is an all motor 92 automatic Maxima in South FL that wants a piece.
