Fidanza problem solved.

Yep the Fidanza flywheel came apart on me and it looks like theres some grinding on the engine side of the flywheel. I had to put the factory flywheel back on with a new clutch and starter as well. The ring gear also came off the flywheel. It's sitting in my room... missing three screws out of it two found so far were left in my tranny and got caught up in my starter gear. I guess the third is what was scraping the flywheel after it came out. Talk about blown... Merry Christmas!

yeah, pics and info you get from Fidanza would be nice.

Just in case something goes wrong for anyone of us who have one, it would be great to have something to reference.

(email)"Hello, my name is Kevin Hinton. I recently purchased a Fidanza flywheel and stage 2 clutch from Proclutch for my 1992 maxima se. I had these professionally installed and have had no problems until a few days ago. The ring gear on my flywheel has moved out of alignment, so now my starter will not engage the flywheel at all. I found this out after replacing the starter. I have emailed Proclutch about this to see if they sold me a defective part or some other brand with fidanza on it. Is there a warranty at all if this happens? would I have to take it up with Proclutch?"

"Hello Kevin,
How long ago did you purchase the flywheel? Fidanza covers any defect in workmanship but not labor. I can issue a return number to examine the flywheel, at that time I can determine what to do. Thank you"(end email)
So you see I would have to send it back to them and if they think it wasnt my fault he said they MAY give me a refund. I dont have a camera right now but soon I might. I gather that three of the bolts holding the ring gear on came out of the flywheel, one of them got stuck behind the flywheel while it was spinning causing a circular groove in the aluminum. At this point I knew my car was starting intermittently I also heard an frequent sound sounding like some metal was loose in there from the flywheel area.

go to the drugstore and buy you a $5 disposable camera. take pics of EVERTYHING. front and back of flywheel, clutch, inside of the tranny, back of the engine block, ring gear where it lines up to the starter, etc.

then take cheapie camera back to the drug store and have the film developed. when you do, ask them to put it on CD for you. it costs a couple bucks extra, but it's worth it and will save your *** in this case so you have photographic evidence of the problem. that will hold up in small claims in the event you have to go that far with the installer or Fidanza. your word against a professional's will not.

You can do the same thing with pictures if you have a 35mm or know someone with a decent camera. Those disposable cameras are crap for any kind of close up pictures. You should know someone with a decent camera. Like Matt said, take TONS of pictures. The few dollars you spend on the film, processing and putting them on disc will be well worth it if you can get several hundred dollars worth of stuff replaced (as it should be).

The car is already done and back in action. I have the flywheel so I can take pics of that if necessary. I'll probably get another one day.
