i have 205/55/16's right now, i wanna switch to 215 or 225/50 or 45/16's, are there ne negative effects from that? also does that mess up ne thing with correct mileage or speed?

 

You're right about probably having to decrease tire size due to increase in tread width. I assume that the wheels are 16x7 or 7.5, so the 225x45 would look really good.

 

215/55 and 225/50 are the "correct" sizes for our cars. just make sure your rims are wide enough for the 225s if you go that way. they need to be at least 7" wide. any narrower, and I would say to stay with the 215/55.

No, you won't have to adjust the speedo or anything with these sizes. if you use the 225/45, you'll have a slightly smaller tire than you should, causing your indicated speed to be a small fraction higher than you're actually going.

to run spacers with the 225's? when I tried to fit some 225's on last summer it was real tight, so I was afraid of rubbing and I just took them off since it looked like it would rub on the rear suspension. as for the fronts they seemed to fit fine. but since I plan to get either Suspension Tech spring or Spints this summer, I was wondering if that would make fitting 225's even more of a prob with or without spacers??

 

depending on the wheel, you can use 225/50 without problems. 215/55 are also fine..

225/45 are too small.


If 225/50 are okay with stock springs, it won't change with any other springs on the back.. the geometry in the resr suspension is changed at the top of the strut, not between the strut and spindle.
