Strange door lock problem
Hey guys, I am having a really wierd and annoying problem with my locks. 90% of the time when I turn the ignition off, the doors will lock. Then when I try to unlock them, they will unlock then lock back up, as if the door were open. The will do this a few times, then finally staying unlocked. After that though, they will only lock when I press the unlock button, the lock button does nothing. I assume this has something to do with the door lock timer, but I just re-soldered all of the connections on it (the problem was happening before that). Has anyone had a similar problem, or have any ideas? Thanks!

Sounds logically illogical. Have you checked voltage level: bad +12V supply, gnd, -o-r- smtg overloading your logic.
- Tst disconnect other doors from the circuit.
- Tst take alarm fuse out.
- Any changes?
- hmm.

jeff & citadel07,
just spray the lock with a graphite lock lube. i had the EXACT same problem and it's completely gone now. depending on how cold it gets you may need to do it once or twice a month in each key hole.

Electronic problem will not vanish via lockspray. Its still good to have them lubricated, but with wireless, locks are not even needed.
Btw. The drivers lock switches might be out of alignment, sw or wires broken.

i don't have an electrical problem with my door locks like what brad is describing.
but like it was described by jeff and citadel, when the weather is cold and you try to unlock the door with the key, it tends to just lock itself back up. why?
i don't know but i did spray some lock lube in and it hasn't happened in the last month or so.

Why tsunami? One day the door will not be a problem as u car will not start, maybe next again it will.., why is that? Lack of Maintenance. These luxury cars need tremendous amount of work to keep all features running. If one does not do that tedious PM work, one maybe gets a car with only 10% features Maxima has got.
Basically: that which is not there will never go kaputt...

Same thing happens to me Jeffy. It isn't consistant, just every now and then I'll unlock it then it locks and kind of twists the key wierd. Also when it first started getting cold my ability to unlock all the doors from the driver door (with the key) stopped working.
I just want to get a keyless entry now

I also have Jeff's problem, but most of the time when this happens, I turn the key in the locking direction first and then the door unlocks and stays unlocked. My keyless entry pad always unlocks the door on first try.

Come to think of it, my dads 91 does the same thing. When I came back from lunch today, I unlocked to door to get out, as soon as I popped the door opened, it locked itself again. I tried to pull on up on the door lock, but it felt really stiff like it was fighing me. I then let go, it relocked itself and then I tried again and it free'd back up like normal.
