piece of junk

so i just found out that my maxima is a piece of junk, isn't safe to drive, and isn't worth fixing. I had bought it for a little over a thousand, and now i don't know what the hell to do with the car. It will cost over 2 grand to fix.....any ideas?

Yeah, what's the big problem with it? Is there frame damage or something? If many of the parts are good, I'm sure a lot of people on this forum could use some of them. You might even be able to make your money back.

Not sure what is wrong with the car, but maybe you can do it cheaper. If a garage gave you a quote, perhaps you can get someone from the org to do the work cheaper. Lots of people here seem to live in your neck of the woods. As far as parts, internetautomar has fairly priced new stuff and others have referred to a couple of decent salvage yards in your area. Don't surrender your Max before it's time.

Well considering his past posts, he's not very mechanical. So $2,000 worth of work could be anything. But to us, the master 3-gen diyers, it might only cost us $500 of parts and free labor.

No kidding. If I put $2K into my max, it could almost compete with some of the others on this site.

When buying a max, you should budjet for 2k worth of repairs at least. I put that in a tranny alone. Let alone EVERTYTHING ELSE to make it safe.

I spent like $3k on aftermarket items ONLY!!! I'm not going into repair costs for some of things that have come up.

You want an idea on it, PART IT!!!!!! You'll make some money off of it. Too bad your color wasn't white, I'd buy the hood off you if it was still good.

well here are the problems: Left and right ball joints, control arm, two bushings, needs alignment, as well as the fact that the car has been known to randomly die on me while accelerating, and it probably needs a new fuel pump. I don't have the means, tools, or know how to get this done myself. The mechanic recommended that i don't do fix it. And damn give me some time to repost, i just posted it yesterday, im trying to figure out with the parents what to do with the car, they don't want to deal with it anymore, they want to trade it in. If anyone wants it, 750 and its yours. i'd rather not part it because i have to go back to college in a week, and we have no place to put the car itself. i will be checking the forum regularly for any comments, questions, or suggestions.......

internetautomart has practically all the parts u need for cheap. you can do the labor....just go pick up a haynes or chiltons teardown manual at autozone. the dying could be ur ignition coils...

Well I have the best news I have had in months.....not only did I sell the maxima for almost as much as I bought it for (my mechanic bought it back from me), but now I'm the proud owner of a 96 maxima. Pretty sweet deal if you ask me

My mechanic surprisingly bought it back, although he is convinced there is nothing wrong with it. Then the parents decided that they wanted to buy me something reliable, and it so happened to be a 96 maxima....although i do have to buy it off of them if i want to call it mine, but it works for now
