Can someone please tell me what those mini air breather things are? Can i take off the resonance thing after my air flow sensor and put one there??

Do you all know what im talking about after the MAF? Its a little compartment that is connected to nothing that goes down. Im almost sure it has to do with sound. I was just wondering if i can plug that up or put a little filter there. Thanks
