I'm getting mine from carparts.com...

use the discount code from importhookup.com or dealnews....the install is rather simple as long as the current sensor isn't screwed in there to tight. just jack the car up, find your y-pipe(towrds the front of the Y-pipe) and you'll see a "spark plug" looking thing screwed into it with a wire coming out of it. unscrew and replace the entire assembly to the OE harness and you're done. and be sure to use a type of "anti-sieze" you you don't mess up the threads on the sensor and in the y-pipe!

It depends where you are. In NYC there is a chain of places called, GB500. I paid $50 for a Bosch one for my wife's 2nd gen (also 3 wire). The Bosch comes with anti-sieze already on it. It's easier to take the old one out if the exhaust is warm/hot, but don't tell Danny.

Since Bosch spark plugs are not that good for Maximas, do their Oxygen Sensors work well for 3rd Gens or should I stick with OEM?

Also, do I really need a special socket to remove the sensor or can I get by with a spark plug socket?

I forgot which precious metal is used for the 3 wire o2 sensors, but it's not platinum.
I first tried to order a sensor (for the wife's rat) from oxygensensor.com, but their on line order system doesn't work well. The order looked like it went through, but didn't. Also, the OEM "style" sensors they sell are made by Walker. I have no idea how good they are. The two biggest OEM makers are: NTK (NGK) and Bosch. This is why I was happy to find a Bosch locally for $10 less.

Which is better for the Maxima, Bosch or NTK?

Did you order Bosch part number 13387?

Who makes the OEM factory installed sensors in our Maxes?

Once again, the Org has saved me money. I have been watching my gas mileage steadily decline. I think it is time for an O2 sensor, especially since the current one is factory original!

According to my 1991 Stanza FSM (should be the same) the material is zirconia.

That is incorrect

Our Oxygen Sensors are not made out of zirconia, they are made out Titania, which is a ceramic composite.

You're right. Walked the extra 3 ft. to get the '87 Maxima manual and it says Titania.
