suspension question

Just put a new set of Yokahama tires on my 91 SE. Got a good deal. However the guy at Tire Kingdom told me I needed new struts soon. The car has 112000 miles and the struts are original. He wants $600 to do all 4. Is there a way I can tell if it really is needed. $600 seems pretty high. Found struts on ebay for $270 for a set of 4. Is the labor that expensive and time consuming for struts? Should I go and switch out anything else if I get the struts done to save me anymore labor cost? Thanks, you guys have always been great with your responses.

after strut replacement you will need an alignment also....$600 about correct price for all 4 at a shop...they are very labor intense because they have to remove the assembly's then remove the struts from them. I did mine about 2 months ago took me 4 hours for all 4. You can do this yourself it is not that hard with the proper coil spring compressor(borrow from Autozone) but be very carefull!!!!! I had one cut loose on me and smashed my Brother in the leg..after getting back from hospitol we finished up..

Where is ocean springs? I am in Meridian and I will install them for $100 for you. It is time for new ones if it has that many miles on them.

Are you lowered? If not then KYB struts will be a great replacement and you can get them pretty cheap. They are right at $200 for all 4 from here.

That site is run by a trusted member on here (internetautomar). I would trust him and KYB over eBay.

Seriously if you are not too far and want to make the trip here email me (click my name in my sig) and I will install them for you. I have done it a number of times and have all the tools needed.

I'm right next to Biloxi. Thanks for the info on that site for parts. I will be getting parts from him. Thanks for the offer on installation. When I get some cash I may take you up on your offer.

Yeah I looked on the map and it looks like its about 3hrs away (I am 1.5 hrs from Hatteisburg). Just let me know. I have a few projects going on but I can do the suspension in no time so you could drive up in the morning and drive back that afternoon.
