Temperature going crazy....

Last nite I drove my 1992 Nissan maxima GXE a about 17 miles straight for the first time. I noticed that the temperature went from medium to cold and even past cold. What I mean is the needle dropped as if the car was not running. after a good few minutes it went back up to normal and then droped again.
A few minutes after that caught a flat pulled over and noticed antifreeze on the floor. I did not open the hood to check were it was coming from but it looked like it was leaking from the water pump because it was right by the drive belt. can some one confirm that this is the water pump problem.

hahah i agree with Hectic.. open your hood and see what's happening..
first of all.. if your temperature was going down.. it can't be the water pump
because if you have no Antifreeze, your temp. will go UP UP UP and your car
will start smokin.. if it is the water pump.. you will hear a noise (pretty loud)
and leak out a lot of antifreeze... check your thermostat.. it might be open all the time... that's why your temp is going down when you are driving..

It turned out my water pump was leaking so I got that changed along with the timing belt and seals. now I tested the car again, and I still get the temp needle dropping when Im on the highway but this time no leaks. It only happens at highway speeds Could this be the thermostat?, and if it is is it possible for the car to be normal temerature and then get cold just because thermostat is open, because I had a 89 maxima a couple a years ago and the old owner ran it for awhile without a thermostat and when it got to normal temerature it stayed there.

Antifreeze on cabin floor? If so, heater core or hoses leaking. Your ECU will fry...
Hopefully I understood the story all wrong....

The bleeding has to be done carefully to get all bubbles out. Look at stickies and/or drive one hour over 2000rpm with bleed valve ajar.
