Tranny leak.........

2 different mechanics saying my tranny is leaking around the pump gasket, slowly. They said just to keep an eye on the fluid. I have a '90 Max. AUtomatic Transmission. One mechanic said it would cost major $ just to take out the tranny due to a bunch of labor hours............
Just wondering if it will get progressively worse. Need it to last for another yr. Plus about to take a 600 mile trip..........
Any suggestions?
