why is it that the 1994 GXE has a square tooth timing belt and the 1992 GXE has a round tooth timing belt.

Also I was wondering if the 1990 maxima SE sedan auto is an Interference Engine?
thanks in advance.

All maxima VG engines are interference engines.

I don't know exactly why nissan went to a square tooth in 94 over the round tooth in 92, but they did... just one of those things that car makers do along the model line.. could be a design change on the engine to make the belts last longer, could be the supplier ran out of the round gears and switched to a square one..
