head lights out help

I have a '94 Maxima GXE. Yesterday night When I turn the **** for the headlights as soon as they came on it went right off.
So I thought I blew a fuse. I bought fuses from strauss blue 15. Replace the ones in the engine compartment I thought that would do it but it didn't.
So then I replace the fuses on the inside of the car.
and it still didn't work.
Anyone have any ideas of what might be the problem?
Thanks

I check the bulbs both of them are fine.
How do go about checking the wiring and relay?

My car had an electircal problem like that once too. My lights blew out, but it also turned my amp into protection mode, and turned off the radio. What was wrong with my car was that the voltage regulator on the alternator was shot and none of my fuses blew. If you have the cheap rebuilt alternator from Checkers, I think they have a lifetime warranty so if everyone else's ideas don't work, check the alt.
