is it worth it,....?

do you guys think that an engine rebuild kit is even worth it........

I wouldn't do it. I can get an engine with 105K miles on it with a 90 day internal parts warranty for $105, $130 without core (local salvage yard). If you don't drive like a maniac, it should last you five years or more. (I went with that option and have driven it since the summer; no problems.

well im planing to keep the car for awhile so should i go for it or should i drop in a used engine....? and as for the tranny i plan to swap it for a 5 speed.....but knowing me ill probalbly stick with auto and rebuild that also.

I'd say if you can find a decent used one cheap, go that route. And rebuild the auto. If you can find a 5 speed donor car, get everything you possibly can off of it if you decide to do the 5 speed swap. If you can't find a good used motor, then you can rebuild the old one if you feel comfortable doing it. Just take your time, don't skimp on parts. Good luck.
